Freight shipping is the process of transporting commodities, goods and cargo by land, sea, or air. Common types of freight shipping over the road include truckload, less than truckload (LTL) and intermodal. Freight itself can be defined as the goods transported by truck, train. In some cases, we offer you carriers for long-haul that are less expensive, offer East Coast to West Coast shipping or vice versa West Coast to East Coast. What does a Freight Broker Do?

A freight broker is someone who assists shippers with freight ready to haul by finding carriers who are qualified to haul the load. … Freight brokers can run their own business or work for a freight broker company. They are responsible for arranging the transportation and tracking of a load hauled by a freight carrier.

What is a Lift gate and why would we need to order one?

Our customers usually order a Lift gate at (pick up or at The Delivery) to make pick up or delivery easy without a Loading Dock.  If you are unable to load your freight into our Carriers Van.

Do we have to order a Lift gate in advance?

It is probably easier (though not always realistic we know how often this is last minute for you) to plan and find out if BOTH your Shipper location and your Consignee Locations are commercial with docks or Forklifts on site. If they do, this will make your LTL Freight shipping both more economical and more economical to accomplish. Include in your Quote request to The Shipping Emporium then if you do or do not need a Lift gate to come on the truck that we send for either your shipper location or your destination.

What Is a Liftgate?

Also known as a lift, this is a mechanical device that can be installed on the truck’s rear to enable the handling of goods. It either can move cargo from the pavement to the truck or from the truck bed to the pavement.

If you Have a Forklift, Do you also need A Lift Gate? Lift gates only needed by Shippers and Consignees that DO NOT have a forklift or shipping dock available. With Loading docks, the truck that we will be sending to you can be backed up to the platform and unloaded since it does not need to be adjusted to the ground.

Is Having a Loading dock or a Forklift on Hand Required?

Our clients freight shipments are delivered from one loading dock to another, and the freight is offloaded directly from the truck with a pallet jack or a Loading Dock.  But for pick-up or delivery locations without either a dock or forklift – that is specially where you need to order a liftgate. As long as your pallets are not too heavy, the average carrier’s Lift gate is for 2500 pounds or less. And the length of the pallet must not be more than 96 inches.

How big does my shipment need to be to best reduce cost?

When you have a shipment that weighs more than 4900 pounds or has more than 6 pallets. we can make sure that the truck ordered for you is not only the most suitable, but also the lowest possible cost!

How about Lift -gates?

Most lift gates on trucks can fit freight that is about 2500 or less per pallet, with the range

Carefully package and prepare your pallet shipping for your LTL carriers and for your Truckload carriers as well. Let us know if your shipment requires special handling or Equipment (Perishables, fragile, or Haz-mat).

If you need any special services at all, please let us know when asking for a quote, so that you will have this on your estimate. All services needed for pick up and Delivery need to be requested on your quote or they could be added to your bill if needed when truck comes.

3PL stands for Third Party Logistics Companies. 3PLs are freight brokers because we are the intermediary between shippers and carriers.

We are a Domestic Freight Forwarder (Freight Forwarding Service). Often our Customers are interested in a Lift-Gate Service on truck. In
some cases, you may know ahead of time that this will be needed but in
sometimes not. Please Keep in Mind that our Quotes will be based on your
information provided, and services such as Lift-gate and Appointments at
the Delivery need to be considered for your Shipping Location (Business
or Government Location) and also your Delivery Location (Business or
Government Location or School). Checking on the locations to make sure
that they have a Loading dock or a Forklift (or even a pallet jack for
shipments that are not too heavy) can help save you both time, money and
hassle. Some of our Carriers have Trucks with and without a Lift – gate
on truck, so it is helpful to know ahead of time what you will need. For
us, making sure that a Lift gate is available before you ship is
sometimes easier than just waiting to see if the truck has one
available.

As far as your shipments weight, there are weight limits for Lift gates
varying from 2500 pound capacity per pallet to 5000 pounds in some rare
cases. (and also length limits up to 96 inches usually) . When we
provide you a Quote based on your shipments weight and dimensions
(length x width x height) that is what we are looking for— is the most
exact information that you can provide about your shipment’s size and
also your needs.

LTL shipping is usually picked up by an LTL carrier and the services are
for at least 100 pounds to 10,000 pounds at the most, or with some
exceptions we have LTL Carriers up to 15000 pounds. (All depends on your
pallets size in lx w x ht and number of pallets also). We can help you
to reduce your costs by finding (with our help) the carriers that are
the lowest for your pickup and your destination, your shipments size and
for the Accessorial needed.

Truckloads are usually Dedicated trucks and can be full up to 52 linear
feet or up to 42,000 pounds And are handled on Dry Vans and Flat Bed
Trucks both.
