The dimensions (length x width x height, number of pallets or skids, and weight of your shipment are used to calculate density. Density is the relationship between how much room an item takes up and its weight. For example, a square inch of lead is much denser and thus heavier than a square inch of cork.
- The density of your shipment is used to find your freight classification based on how many pallets, weight, and dimensions (Length x width x height).
- In general, as you estimate freight costs, the higher the density of your shipment, the less it costs to ship.
- Some (not all) of our Carriers offer Density Based Freight Classing. Ask us for more information. WE ARE A SWAM CERTIFIED TRUCKLOAD AND LTL (LESS THAN TRUCKLOADS) SERVICE provider.
- We have many carriers available for LTL and TL shipping both. Carriers are more cautious due to COVID19 and providing your pickup and destination contact names and phone numbers for the BOL, along with any restricted pickup and delivery times really does help.
